on Monday the Federal Trade Commission voted 4-0 that this
product was written
"all or virtually all"
in the United States
this sonnet is MADE IN USA
although it consists of mostly foreign words
and the labor is an issue, however,
but i assure you that the title was slapped on
this baby right here in the good old US of A
by American hands, the same kind that chiseled
Washington's nose out of a mountain.
yes, we cannot deny that there is some foreign labor involved
and that some of these words were uttered by exploited children
in lexicas overseas.
yes, we cannot deny that some of these words were introduced
into the world and even into English by foreign writers.
yes, we cannot deny that the sonnet is a European form
but, in our defense,
this is hardly iambic
the point, though, is this: support American-written sonnets
so that the money, that money, your money,
the money you pay each year for sonnets,
stays right here in the gold old West.
